Summa College: ready for the future
In education, more than ever, you have to distinguish yourself on quality, Summa College believes. It put its money where its mouth is and improved the organization with iPM and employees. This led, among other things, to an increase in diplomas issued and a decrease in dropouts.
Question
Summa College is the successor to the former ROC Eindhoven. It is an important pillar of education in a region known for its great knowledge and expertise. To further increase its importance in the region, the training center wanted to reach more students. The success rate had to go up while the dropout rate had to come down. Summa College also wanted to increase professionalism among teachers in order to deliver better students. Also, the transition from MBO to HBO had to be improved.
Approach
Summa College asked iPM Partners to support the schools and associated services in the journey to a more harmonized customer- and process-oriented management and improvement. The change process was based on integral Performance Management (iPM), where the organization itself establishes the changes sustainably.
Results
The change process, which is ongoing, has borne fruit. For example, the number of diplomas issued has increased by thirteen percent. Furthermore, the number of school leavers without a diploma has decreased by thirty percent. Educational quality and financial management are in balance. Work processes and related continuous adjustments and improvements in the future are ensured.
